The Scientific Journal Impact Rating (SJIR) is a structured system for evaluating academic journals and assigning ratings from 1 to 10, reflecting their scholarly quality, credibility, and impact. It combines quantitative metrics and qualitative assessment to provide a comprehensive measure of journal excellence.
Journals with a valid p-ISSN and/or e-ISSN are eligible to apply for SJIR evaluation.
The rating is calculated using two main components:
- Total Quality Contributing Factor (TQCF): Based on five criteria—Originality (50%), Scientific Quality (20%), Peer Review (20%), Regularity & Stability (5%), and Technical Editing Quality (5%).
- Articles Published Score (APS): Based on the number of articles published during the year.
SJIR Rating = TQCF × APS
The evaluation considers multiple factors, including:
- Originality: Production of new knowledge or innovation.
- Scientific Quality: Clarity, accuracy, and reproducibility of research.
- Peer Review: Integrity and rigor of the review process.
- Regularity & Stability: Consistency of publication schedules.
- Technical Editing: Formatting, figures, tables, and readability.
- Additional Criteria: Indexing, internationalization, editorial quality, standards, and online/print presentation.
Yes. Plagiarism, repeated late publishing, or irregular issues can result in negative points, which may reduce the total TQCF and SJIR rating.
SJIR ratings are calculated annually based on the journal’s performance in the previous year.

Eligible journals can submit an application through the SJIR registration portal with details such as ISSN, publication frequency, number of articles, editorial board, and indexing information.

The standard evaluation process for a journal takes approximately 7–8 months for normal, free submissions. However, an expedited evaluation and SJIR rating service is also available for a nominal fee. For more details, please refer to FAQ 11.
